Do you ever think that this freedom from P can last a lifetime or is this just temporary? This question is bugging me these days...
P.s No word from Brighterside but I hope that he is hanging in there...

Day 38. Keep it going everyone!
I'm still here ingodwetrust. I won't be going away anytime soon that's for sure.
I was looking at borderline stuff at work today - no nudity and I didn't dwell on anything but stupid anyways.
I need to go work-out

Nice to know you're still clean Brighterside. Yes here2learn Im starting to get that feeling too, this can last a lifetime. I had a strong urge to act out last night but I fought and won. Im starting to feel real emotions and pain about many things I was neglecting in my life due to my PA. But I have decided the following: 1. I will not go back to my PA no matter the pain or the problems I face in my real life. Better to feel those emotions and know that Im alive then to be alive but in fact to be dead as all PA are dead inside until they stop. I have come to an understanding that in my previous attempts I always kept P as something to go back to if I fail in my real life. That's why I failed in my previous attempts. Not this time around. 2. I will limit my TV and internet usage. 1 hour Tv and 1 hour internet per day, not a minute more. I will use internet under supervision whenever I can or I will use it in public places where everyone can see the screen. As a last resort I will get rid of my Tv if I have to. All this beacuse there is so much filth on Tv every single day. Feeling peaceful, firmly commited to succeed DAY 9 p.s I recommend www.recoverynation.com

CONGRATULATIONS!!! 40 days is GREAT!!! Aim at 100 free days man! You can do it! Feeling really tempted today but I will not give in. "What we do in this life echoes in the eternity" DAY 11
p.s Brighterside can you explain how christianity looks upon porn? Islam is clear on this, don't even go near porn is the rule. No gazing, no thinking no nothing that has to do with either porn or sex outside marriage. Stay in peace.

Hey everyone!
Hope all is well. Good to see everyone reporting sober.
Ingodwetrust: To answer your question - Christianity looks upon porn the same as Islam. I'm not sure which passage, but I know for a fact that in the New Testament, Jesus is quoted saying something along the lines of: "If you should even look upon a woman with lust in your eyes, you have already sinned." So entertaining sexual thoughts or viewing porn is already crossing the line.
Which brings me to my next point. There is nothing in the Bible that states self-gratification or ejaculation is a sin. I read an article from a Christian youth pastor describing how God wants us to have pleasure - that's why He gave us taste buds. He could have just given us nothing on our tongues and we would only eat purely for nourishment. There is a fine line with enjoying food in that over-eating has caused many health risks - especially in the USA! I believe God wants us to have tasteful pleasure - in moderation, otherwise we would be making a god or idol out of food (which goes against the 1st Commandment).
After 40 days of no porn and no mb I actually masturbated on Friday night. I was feeling intense urges for the past week or 2. I did it without thinking about porn or sex or lust. I just thought about God. Interestingly, I have not had any urges since and I didn't fall into a binge (which has always been a major problem for me). I realize I walked a VERY FINE LINE. I don't plan to mb regularly. If I am going through a phase of intense urges and find my self entertaining lustful thoughts, I will consider mbing with only God and Jesus on my mind and thank Him and ask forgiveness. I feel it released me from a rough patch. I don't feel I have ruined my sobriety. Laying off the mb for 40 days was a great starting point.
Cap - I understand the main part of your addiction is mb so you can take what you want from this and apply it to your own situation.
I'm not encouraging anyone to go this route, I'm just letting you know my thoughts. It's up to you to dissect the roots of your addiction and apply the necessary plan of action. The great thing is that we can stick together on this board and support each other as a team to each individual's quest for sexual purity. We can also confide in each other and ask "What do you think...?"
I'm really glad you found this board Ingodwetrust. You have great insights and great topics of discussion.
