Help me, Lord, to see all that you have done for me, and to be grateful, today and everyday.

From the Common Book of Prayer:
THOU, 0 Lord, that stillest the raging of the sea, hear, hear us, and save us, that we perish not. 0 blessed Saviour, that didst save thy disciples ready to perish in a storm, hear us, and save us, we beseech thee. Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ, have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy upon us. 0 Lord, hear us. 0 Christ, hear us. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost, have mercy upon us, save us now and evermore. Amen.

"Lord God, I thank you for your promise of being with me at all times. Thank you that with You, I do not have to fear anything. Lord I thank you that you will strengthen me now and help me through this struggle; that you will uphold me with your righteous right hand. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me withstand the adversary. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."
(based on Isaiah 41:10)

Father, help us to identify the things that tempt us physically. We desire to be holy and know we’ll have to make tough choices in order to avoid those things that cause us to sin. We haven’t done that well in the past. We haven’t been willing to stay clear. Our desire is to change that and keep our distance. We ask for you blessing as we honor your boundaries. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

PS 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.
PS 40:2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
PS 40:3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.
PS 40:4 Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.

This is taken from the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chysostomos:
For our deliverance from all affliction, wrath, danger, and distress, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord have mercy.
Help us, save us, have mercy upon us, and protect us, O God, by Your grace. Lord have mercy.
For a perfect, holy, peaceful, and sinless day, let us ask the Lord.
Grant this, O Lord.
For an angel of peace, a faithful guide, a guardian of our souls and bodies, let us ask the Lord.
Grant this, O Lord.
For forgiveness and remission of our sins and transgressions, let us ask the Lord.
Grant this, O Lord.
For all that is good and beneficial to our souls, and for peace in the world, let us ask the Lord.
Grant this, O Lord.
For the completion of our lives in peace and repentance, let us ask the Lord.
Grant this, O Lord.
For a Christian end to our lives, peaceful, without shame and suffering, and for a good account before the awesome judgment seat of Christ, let us ask the Lord.
Grant this, O Lord.
Remembering our most holy, pure, blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commit ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.
To You, O Lord.
Stay Strong & Great Thread!
Paddy

Psalm 69
PS 69:1 Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck.
PS 69:2 I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold. I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me.
PS 69:3 I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God.
PS 69:13 But I pray to you, O LORD, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation.
PS 69:14 Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me, from the deep waters.
PS 69:15 Do not let the floodwaters engulf me or the depths swallow me up or the pit close its mouth over me.
PS 69:16 Answer me, O LORD, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me.
PS 69:17 Do not hide your face from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in trouble.
PS 69:18 Come near and rescue me; redeem me because of my foes.
PS 69:29 I am in pain and distress; may your salvation, O God, protect me.
PS 69:30 I will praise God's name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.
PS 69:33 The LORD hears the needy and does not despise his captive people.
PS 69:34 Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and all that move in them,
PS 69:35 for God will save His people.

Heavenly Father,
I give up. I've tried it my way. I've tried what I thought was your way, and then I mixed in my way. I tried the wrong way. You reached in and pulled me back from the brink of disaster.
I'm sorry that even now, even after you have done the greatest of deeds for me, that I continue to sin in my mind and heart. That I continue to have thoughts that are disgusting, vile and completely contrary for your teaching.
Tear away my sins and desires. Create me clean again. Only You can do this. I'm going to stop trying, and give it all away to You.
Good luck, because I'm a mess.
Love,
powerlessforHim

Hi, I’m new to this site, but I’m not new to the whole P thing. I have struggled with this addiction for all of my adult life. It is sickening to think that I have wasted most of my young adult life battling this problem. I belong to a good church and have gone to my pastor about the issues I have been struggling with. Needless to say I don’t feel comfortable going to him any more. I quote, “I don’t want to look at you and see a disgusting pervert”, I don’t know maybe that is precisely what I need to hear. I want to be free from this crap, but I don’t want someone looking at my situation, and be disgusted with me. I find it refreshing that there are other Christian men who want to be free of this.

PS 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
PS 46:2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

Father in Heaven,
I beseech of thee to send down your Holy Spirit and fill the void in my soul. Fill me with holy and sinless thoughts. Fill me with goodness. I humbly ask this of You.
