Father in Heaven,
Thank you for this day. Thank you for this gift you have given me called sobriety. Thank you for helping me each day, each minute, each second, on my journey of recovery. Thank you for opening my eyes, as they were shut and I could not see. I pray this in the Name of The Father & The Son & The Holy Spirit. Amen.

Peter 1, ch 5, 8-10
Be sober and vigilant.
Your opponent the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that your brothers and sisters throughout the world undergo the same sufferings.
The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory through Christ Jesus will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little.

Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Preserve my life, for I am devoted to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God; be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all day long. Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; listen to my cry of supplication. In the day of my trouble I call on you, for you will answer me.
Psalms 86: 1-7

Christos anesti! Alithos anesti! Christus resurrexit! Vere resurrexit! Christ is risen! Truly He is risen!
As Christ rose from the tomb, Father, grant me the peace & strength to arise from the tomb of my addiction.

last couple of weeks this is what I ask God every morning:
What can I do to make You happy.
It usually starts with 'get out of bed'. Which is a good start.
There is a sentence that sits in my head and is not planning on leaving. It says something like: 'He will not let go of the work of his hands'. So I figure this is how He likes work done, and this is how He wants me to do work. Practically speaking it means not give in halfway. And if a job is never finished, like gardening, it is ok too. It is good medicine against procrastination as well.

Psalm 141:1 O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to you.
PS 141:4 Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with people who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies.
PS 141:5 Let a righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it.
PS 141:8 My eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge--do not give me over to death.
PS 141:9 Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, from the traps set by evildoers.
PS 141:10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety.

May I add an Orthodox prayer written by holy ascetics from 19th Russia?
The Prayer of the Optina Elders
Grant to me, my Lord, that with peace of mind I may face all that this new day is to bring.
Grant me grace to surrender myself completely to Your holy will. For every hour of this day instruct and prepare me in all things.
Whatsoever tidings I may receive during the day, do You teach me to accept tranquilly, in the firm conviction that all eventualities fulfill Your holy will.
Govern my thoughts and feelings in all I do and say. When things unforeseen occur, let me not forget that all comes down from You.
Teach me to behave sincerely and reasonably toward every member of my family, that I may bring confusion and sorrow to none.
Bestow on me, my Lord, strength to endure the fatigue of the day and to bear my part in all its passing events.
Guide my will and teach me to pray, to believe, to hope, to suffer, to forgive and to love. Amen

The Jesus prayer is simple: 'Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner', yet this short phrase is not meant to be an end in itself, but rather a tool for a changed life of prayer. Its repetition, frequent and regular, causes the mind and heart to become accustomed to the continual outcry to God, until, in God's good time, one's whole being begins to realize its intimate proximity to God at every moment.
