Forgive me, Almighty God, for my sins. I get sick of them and frustrated with my own inability to completely overcome them. Strengthen me, dear Father, so that will have more fortitude and courage to face temptation victoriously. Thank you, God of glory, for sharing your perfection and glory with me by sending Jesus. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

Psalms 141: 4 Don't let me lust for evil things; Don't let me participate in acts of wickedness. Don't let me share in the delicacies of those who do evil. {NLT}

May I share a prayer said in the Orthodox Church during Lent, due to St Ephraim of Syria? It seems to me to say an enormous amount to us addicts. It's the big prayer we add to our services during Lent; we say it making prostrations after each clause. I'll quote it in the old-fashioned language in which I know it.
O Lord and Master of my life, Take from me the spirit of sloth, despair, lust of power, and idle talk.
But give rather the spirit of chastity, humility, patience, and love.
Yea, O Lord and King, grant me to see my own transgressions, and not to judge my brother, for blessed art Thou unto ages of ages. Amen.

Amen to all of your prayers.
I like them all, Although the one prayer that I love, it is an oldie but a goodie, is the Lords prayer. The part that hits home to me is that we have to forgive the people in our lives if we want God to forgive us.

I read this yesterday: 1Corinthians 3:16 Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?
Father, help me to remember that Your Holy Spirit lives in me, and live my life accordingly, so as not to grieve You.

I read this today: For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age. Titus 2.11,12
Thank you for your marvelous grace, Father. Thank you that by your grace and power I am able to say "NO" to what is evil and live a pure life that pleases you.

From Paul Harvey: While you or I might not agree with everything here I think it gives us something to think about.
"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!"

That is great. That hits the nail on the head. Paul Harvey is great. I like how he tells it like it is.
Amen Paul Harvey, Amen.

I read this today: PHILIPPIANS 3:7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ
Help me Lord see what is trash and what is not. Help me to value that which is important and worthwhile. Open my eyes to see things as You see them. And help me to live accordingly.

But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3.13,14
Help me, Lord, to forget the past. To forget the bad things I did and to not allow them to call me back again. And help me look forward; to look to YOU and to all things good and honest and true. In Jesus' name, Amen.
