Yesterday the last of the steel reinforcement was placed and tied:

The first truck arrived at 8am today. It is the flatbed in the back that has a hydraulic telescopic arm - which was positioned to lift a 500 liter bucket up to a platform where we could pour concrete into wheelbarrows. Just before 9am the first of two concrete trucks arrived for delivery:

A load of concrete on the way up:

I pushed wheelbarrows for a while and then took a turn for a while on the bucket:

Raking out and vibrating the concrete (to remove air pockets):

A section at the stairwell that has been smoothed and leveled already:

I woke up at 3am last night and never got back to sleep from anxiety about this whole operation. I was owner, general contractor, laborer.... I have never taken on a project of this size and it was scary. The guys were all experienced but they were following my orders. Everyone's attitude was, "where do you want me? What do you want me doing?" After a while I told them that I needed to rely on their experience and if they saw something needed doing to not wait for me - to just do it. In the end this worked out well.
I then had a lot of cleanup after everyone left. I am going to eat dinner now and watch some Star Trek!!!! RELAXATION.
Tomorrow I can walk on my new floor (it will take a few weeks to cure well enough to remove the supports but in 24 hours it can be walked on).

Wow. That is one awesome way to put a floor in. Totally amazing. Thanks for sharing the photos. Sorry you woke up stressed - but it sounds like you're doing fine giving the experts room to do their expertness. (is that a word?)

Now I know why they had to jackhammer my kitchen floor to get to the leaking radiator pipes... Same kind of floor.

I'll bet you are a Babylon 5 fan too! Fess up! A mouse - but I can't post the pictures of what happened to it here - they are too horrific. I have been walking on my new floor. Tomorrow I will post a pic of that amazing sight.

Never watched it, though I probibly would be a fan if I did.
Can't be worse then that blob-fish I posted a while ago.
While the pic might not look that amazing, the about of work that went into excavating and installing the floor really was and you should be proud you put your heart and soul into it, and now you can put your...uh...soles on it!
