900 Days exactly today of sobriety!
I haven't been here in a couple weeks, and I haven't counted the days in a long while, but today I had the idea to count the days just to see what it was and surprise, surprise - exactly 900 days?
Gidde-Yup!
Man I am blessed. Thank you Lord.

Hello CF! 900 days is most impressive!! I myself am now looking at longterm recovery and I have some questions for you. - You have been completely sober from both p & mb for 900 days? - what is your botom line that you never cross? - do you feel like you are still evolving or is this your new completely normal life now? - If you feel like you are still evolving, how do you foresee the nex steps. - do you still have urges to p/mb, do you still experience triggers? - Are there still things you avoid in life, such as watching movies/shows that feature some nudity scenes etc...? - any special advice you would give with regards to longterm recovery? Thanks for taking time to reply to them if you're still around. I probably have more questions. There are few people like yourself still on this board to show the road ahead for longterm recovery. Fantastic Results!! ;D

To me, at this point, 900 days seems like a miracle. I can only have the slightest idea what it must take on a daily basis / an hourly basis to make that a reality. Wow!! I hope to be posted a similar email someday, years from now.

- You have been completely sober from both p & mb for 900 days? Yes.
- what is your botom line that you never cross? Looking at p, mb'ing, fantasy, visual lust.
- do you feel like you are still evolving or is this your new completely normal life now? It's a daily act of constant improvement.
- If you feel like you are still evolving, how do you foresee the nex steps. Looking a little too long.. I still need to work on the eye-bounce because time-to-time I still look a bit longer than I should.
- do you still have urges to p/mb, do you still experience triggers? OH Yeah! Almost daily.
- Are there still things you avoid in life, such as watching movies/shows that feature some nudity scenes etc...? If a show gets too graphic or suggestive, I do change the channel.
- any special advice you would give with regards to longterm recovery? Give up the shame and move forward. Getting bogged down with shame only hinders progress. Guilt is good - it reminds us of where we've been.. but if we allow shame to rule our lives we cannot proceed.

I'm not special. I haven't accomplished this on my own. Any one of you can have this type of sobriety. Let's not celebrate the captain - let's celebrate that we're all here and realize the need to try and change.
900 days is a blessing - and there were many times I could have screwed it up, and nearly did. But the fortunate part of all this is the longer it gets, the more valuable it becomes to me.
Don't worry about how long you can make it.. just worry about getting through today. Then.. take a few minutes to meditate on who you will be at 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years.. and just stay focused on what you can do today to get to that point. Sounds easy.. but's it can be tough.
Finally - yeah, I get all churchy on people - but my sobriety is a gift of God and I would not have it lest He decided to give it to me. If you want long-term sobriety, then maybe it's time to think about a relationship with your creator - before it's too late.
That is all - nothing to see here people. Go about your business.

Thanks Captain for your advice. One more question, did you do the steps? Or did you do this on your own with the help of your higher power?
I will take you advice to heart and apply what I can. Please don't be a stanger, as it helps us and it can only help you too. Best wishes on your continued recovery
