Just popping in for a visit Some of you old-timers will remember me! I looked back at one of my old posts, specifically because I couldn't remember what my 'date' was...and I was amazed to read that I've now been clean/sober from SA since 7/15/02!!! 2002, folks! Wow. It's still a challenge, and I'm tempted almost daily. But I'm strong, and I stick to my 'program'. I remind myself all the time what I almost lost in the haze of addiction, and I have NO desire to go back to that life. I hated myself. And that's a pretty darn good inspiration to stay clean! So, I thought I'd say 'hi', and also offer some words of encouragement to those here who are struggling to get clean, or to stay clean...YOU CAN DO IT! You really can. God bless all of you, I pray for you all, every week... -Carly

carlyfc, I'm pretty new here so I don't know you but I'm glad to hear your doing well. If you can don't be a strange to the board. We need all the help we can get.

It's good to hear some success stories like yours on the forum. Thanks for the post. It just shows me that it can be done. I'm back after a few months of being in P now and then. Was OK for 330 days prior to that. I must admit it gets me down when I read of so many hopeless and sad people fighting this thing. Your post is so refreshing.

Thanks, everyone That's a big part of why I needed to take a break from here after awhile, because it became depressing for me to read of slips, of people who weren't succeeding at getting clean/staying clean. But...I didn't leave until I was able to glean as much as I could from the site, from the members, and was able to stand on my own! Well, with God's help. Although I hate saying that because I know that some people reading that will immediately groan & think it sounds so trite. But I mean it. If I'm the person I am WITH God in my life, you can only imagine how I was BEFORE he was in my life, and the roads I was heading down. Seriously, I doubt I'd still be alive today. Anyway, I'll try and pop in more regularly now if I'm able to! Take care, everyone, and thanks for the nice welcome

Congratulations, Carly! Thank you for your awesome example of honesty and dedication. When I was early in my abstinence, when I was most vulnerable and weak, your example improved my recovery.
Take care, LM
