I know there's been threads on this before but I can't seem to find them. I'm toying with the idea of a keylogger on the home comp (a laptop) but don't know which ones are good. Suggestions?

my SO has covenant eyes on his computer. it's not a keylogger and doesn't block sites...it just sends accountability reports which show all websites browsed.
I liked the idea of this versus a keylogger b/c it's about him holding himself accountable...not spying.

yeah, that's the same reason we have covenant eyes too. Something came across in the report that looks fishy though and when I tried to see what it was, came up empty.

The best one i found was Spector pro- it took screen shots and logged whatever he typed, also allowed me to block whatever sites i wanted that he already looked at. Part of the reason he is no longer living here. He didnt like the key logger too much- caught him right in the act-- pig

I have Spector-Pro - it logs all PC usage. I am considering however removing it as I have found it slows the PC a bit. In the event i remove it, i will be installing Covenant Eyes instead as we have had this before & I found it was good as it makes my h accountable for any internet usage.
SpectorPro is easy to install & setup, and, i guess as long as you clear it regularly (which i keep forgetting to do) it does not inhibit your PC's speed. In stealth mode there is no sign of it being run on the PC so if you didn't want your PA to know about it, something like this is good.

I use Eblaster by spector pro. It doesn't take screen shots, but it logs keystrokes and provides links to all the pages he views, sending reports to my email. It cost about $100., and installed easily in about 5 minutes. I set it up in less than 15 minutes. It runs in stealth mode, and doesn't show up on scans, nor in the task manager, etc...
EVERYONE should be responsible and accountable without ANYTHING having to be on there imo. I think accountability software is great when/if they choose it, and use it, for recovery, but when we require it, it's a form of spying too imo. If we trusted them we wouldn't need any of it (for that reason). And if they were trustworthy we would trust them. It starts with them imo.
However, I think it is irresponsible these days, not have some monitoring s/w of some sort on any and every home computer. I hate to have too, but that's just the way it is right now. It's our responsibility and obligation to keep our homes, our families, and ourselves safe. The internet is a doorway to horror so it shouldn't be left wide open all the time. I even monitor myself and whenever it is a pc used by multiple people it becomes even more important.
