Because everybody has their own story, I wanted to ask everybody here two questions, and would love to hear from you-
1. What was it that made you realize you are addicted to porn?
2. How did you find this site?
1. For me, I realized I was addicted when I had a dream the other week. I saw two football teams getting ready to play each other :
Addiction vs. Addiction
Then I woke up.
2. I can't confirm it, but I believe I found this site as a result of a good prayer I made.

1. What was it that made you realize you are addicted to porn? I did come to the realization I was a SA while reading up on my H's situation. As a SA, myself, P is not my preferred form of a/o.
2. How did you find this site? I came here after "hearing" about it through someone else who is married to an SA/PA.

After I had some of my darkest period ever during my addiction, about 8 month ago or so, and I was desperate to find anything that could help me, so I searched for "Porn addiction" in google and this site was the first that came up. Thank you for this site!

1. I always said I could quit when I wanted to. I realized I was addicted when I finally decided I wanted to quit, but couldn't on my own.
2. I was binging one night about a year ago and suprisingly, this site was a link from a p site I was on. I guess it was a blessing in disguise.

I was making one of my periodic and fruitless attempts at cleaning up my act, cleaning out caches, riddled with P images and sites, search histories, etc, when I decided to google P recovery sites(had NEVER done that before because I KNEW P was not an addiction but merely a choice, an expression of sexuality). This site came up as a first hit and I clicked on it.
From there it was truly an epiphany, a rebirth. I read, cried, read some more, cried some more and for the first time admitted I am an addict. Call it the touch of God, call it fate, call it a mystery, but it was a rebirth.

1. What was it that made you realize you are addicted to porn?
2. How did you find this site?
1. I stayed home last Sunday night while everyone else went to church. I stayed home because I needed to get college stuff done, but appeared that I didn't have as much as expected, so I was done way early. Boredom kicked in and I got on it.
Afterwards, I had a feeling of emptiness and self-hatred. I was on for so long that 3 hours after everyone came from church, I was still on, hiding the laptop screen from everyone.
Then, I admitted to myself about being addicted and it was the best thing I did so far about my messed up sex life.
2. I went on google and typed in porn addiction and this site came up on the first page. I visited, registered, and I'm so proud and glad that I did.

1) I realised I was addicted when I first started compulsively using to the detriment of social arrangements. However, it did not fully sink in until a while later, just after I started university. I had free access to internet and found myself struggling to control my usage, staying up very late and becoming very tired as a result. Also becoming isolated, withdrawn, and feeling "spaced out" frequently.
2) I found this site by searching for P addiction on google groups. I found someone had made a post on there looking for help and for accountability. I contacted him and it turned out he had already found this site, which he duly reccommended to me. I have to say, I am incredibly grateful to him for such an excellent referral.

I found it through google when searching stuff about addiction. Oddly enough I cannot recall when I first thought of myself as addicted.

Oddly enough for me, I found this site from a fairly known p*rn site (won't mention the name cuz it could be triggering to others here and I don't want to give them exposure anyhow) and I put this site in my favorites when I felt ready to get serious to recover from p*rn addiction. The p*rn site had this site listed in it's links as "Breaking P*rnography Addiction". It took me a year before I felt ready to join this site.

1) I realized I was addicted because I couldn't stop despite telling others, having filters, praying, etc. I looked up addiction criteria, and they seemed to fit.
2) I found this site through Google, if memory serves.

1 - I realised I was addicted to P a long time ago and have been properly hooked for 10 years now. I think I first realised when it got to 3am and I had spent 5 hours on internet P continuously!
2 - I searched for P addiction on Google and it came up first - I'm so glad I did this. I first had the idea to search on Google, because some months before I read a Christian magazine about P addiction and was amazed that such a taboo subject was covered, and that there were internet sites where you can get help and encouragement.
