Okay, since the contest (that I sadly didn't enter) went so well, I thought that we should try a new exercise in poetic form. I find writing to be a great outlet for feelings about this as well as many other trying issues in life. These types of poems are a bit more challenging. The first is called a Twice Poem, being that there are two poems in one here (reading across and down, and the second poem is down the right column).
Letter
Why didn’t you stay?...................................Melancholy infested me.
Why didn’t you take me with you?..............There was not a chair for you there.
Why did you lie?..........................................The fragments pierced my body.
Did it feel good?...........................................A million stabs for each false glance.
……………………………………………….......................I picked up the pieces
……………………………………………….......................With tattered fingers.
Was I the only one?.....................................My momentum hurt many.
What did the flowers smell like?.................There were never flowers,
………………………………………………......................Only empty space on the table.
Where did you go?......................................I was lost in that emptiness.
How did you keep you sanity?....................I held it in my hands,
………………………………………………......................Wished it not to leave.
How did it happen?.....................................It never did.
What did it remind you of?..........................It reminds me of June.
How did you keep your sanity?...................I could not keep it,
………………………………………………......................It was lost long ago.
How did it happen?.....................................You will never know.
What did it remind you of?..........................Sunsets in August.
The second type is called a Thrice Poem (I've never seen this anywhere, as far as I know I invented it). There are three poems here. The first is read across, the second is the left hand column, and the third is the right hand column.
I lost myself..........................Suddenly forgotten
Inside a tomb………………………...Thoughts and dreams
Empty and hollow………………....Swim around
Reaching out…………………………..Searching
For a hand……………………………...For a love
That’s gone…………………………....Forever.
Lost…………………………………........Wherever it be
In my heart.……….…………………..I know there is love
Broken………………………………......In me.
(formatting this is a bit of a chore)
So lets see who who can do this... Pick either one (or do both), and base your entries around recovery (of course). Not sure if there will be judges or prizes, or donations, so it may just be for fun. Give it a try.
