I think the wise older man with dread locks meant "humility". The phrases you repeated hearing, litter this board along with the huge number of pornography casualties who post for a short period and filled with pride, off they go. The lucky ones come back with new purpose and a bit more humble.
I had to face the fact that this prideful self-reliant man could NOT of and by him Self overcome this addiction.
Humility is the key that unlocks the door to recovery. Pride cometh before the binge!

Thanks for clearing that up PJ - I thought I had written something that offened you.
CV - I think that is exactly it. Humility is such an essential quality in life, and if you look at out popular culture, it is probably the rarest virtue around.

Wow
What a breath of fresh air into this board. Instead of aplauding "I can do anything if I try", I hear some humility. Instead of "I am unique and an individual who demands to be respected" I hear "I am unique just like evrybody else" I hear the word "hubris" mentioned, I hear the word "pride" mentioned and there is no qualification about the negativity of what both these words mean. Wow.
best wishes
Brad
